I know this goes against my indie-rock sensibilities, but sometimes pop songs are really, really good (anyone remember a little ditty called Hey Ya!?). Blink-182 for all their silliness can craft some amazing melodies, and I often really like melody. I heard this one:

in 2003 on a UK web broadcast, and I immediately bought the CD based on those 30 seconds. Luckily the rest of the album was really great, and way above all of the previous Blink-182 material. Too bad they broke up after its release. Or maybe that was better than following a great album with a crappy one, like another pop rock band I’m thinking of (The Killers… I’m looking in your direction)
